Charity ball raises over £3,000 for Acute Medical Assessment Unit

A charity ball has raised over £3,000 for the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) at Prince Philip Hospital.

Katie Richards organised the ‘Dancing Through The Decades’ ball, which was a night of fine dining, live music and glitz and glamour, in memory of her Mother, Sandra Bradley.

The event took place at the Quinell Suite at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli on Saturday 8th July.

Katie said: “I am really pleased to be able to donate these funds to the Acute Medical Assessment Unit at Prince Philip Hospital in memory of my Mother.

“The ball was a massive success. Everyone had such an amazing time. It was super rewarding to see how much money we had raised. I’d definitely consider organising another.

“It feels great to think that I may have a part in helping to improve a service for patients and their families.

“Thank you to my friends and family for supporting and attending.”

Rosemary Jones, Senior Sister, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the effort Katie has gone to in order to raise money for AMAU in memory of her mother, Sandra Bradley. I imagine that organising a ball is time consuming and stressful, and it is a great tribute to her Mum that she put in so much effort. The night was a great success, thank you.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
