A charity golf day was held at Carmarthen Golf Club on 4th October 2024 and raised £615 for Veterans NHS Wales.
Andrew Homfray, Interim Service Delivery Manager for Integrated Psychological Therapies Service at Hywel Dda University Health Board, helped organise the event. He said: “I work within the Psychological Therapies Service and Veterans NHS Wales is part of that service. This is the second year of this event, it has gone from strength to strength in terms of the number of golfers attending and the amount of money raised.
“Veterans NHS Wales is a specialised, priority service for individuals who have served in the British Armed Forces at any time in their lives and who are experiencing mental health difficulties related specifically to their military service.
“It was enjoyable to organise, we had great support from Carmarthen Golf Club. The money raised will be used to support creative ways to reach out to veterans to support access to psychological therapies.
“Thank you to Carmarthen Golf Club for hosting the event, along with Louise Loughlin and Julie Graham from the Veterans Service for supporting the event by contacting local shops and companies and getting some great gifts for the raffle. Also, thank you to my wife and daughter, Nia Homfray and Bethan Homfray, who helped with all the admin for the day.”
Diane Henry-Thomas, Fundraising Support Officer, said; “Thank you to Andrew and all those who supported the fantastic golf day. We really enjoyed attending the event.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
