Members of the Pembroke Power Station Club have raised £7,000 for Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital.

The club raised the funds by holding an Ice Bucket Challenge in December 2022, on the coldest day of the year.

The funds were raised in memory of their beloved member, Cath Ircha, who worked at the club for 20 years. Cath sadly passed away in September 2022, and had received exceptional care in the ward.

Tony Griffiths, Club Manager, said: “Cath was an adored member of the club. We wanted to raise money for Ward 10 to say thank you for making her last days so comfortable. A massive thank you to all our members for helping raise the funds.”

Rebecca Jones, Junior Sister, said: “On behalf of Ward 10, I’d like to thank the Pembroke Power Station Sports and Social Club once again for the hugely generous donation.

“It is an honour and privilege to care for oncology and palliative patients, as well as supporting families and friends through such difficult times. We are extremely grateful that this money will contribute towards ensuring our patients receive the excellent care that they deserve and making their stay with us as comfortable as possible.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Tony and the club members for their generous donation.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
