The Wish Fund

Can you help children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions create magical memories?

When children and young people and their families live with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, the joy of childhood and family life can be prevented or disrupted.

Hywel Dda Health Charities has partnered with Scarlets Rugby (opens in new tab) to deliver a new campaign: the Wish Fund read more about our partnership here (opens in new tab). The Wish Fund gives children and young people and their families the opportunity to make magical moments which can be remembered forever.

About the Wish Fund

The Wish Fund campaign raises funds for the paediatric palliative care service.

The paediatric palliative care service cares for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The aim of the service is to give children and young people the best quality of life possible, even though their lives may be shortened.

The Wish Fund helps the paediatric palliative care service to create lasting memories for the children, young people and families they support. This may involve:

  • arranging special activities to make long-lasting memories such as group activities and family day trips
  • providing toys and arts and crafts materials for our therapeutic play service to help children and young people process and understand what they are experiencing
  • providing personalised condolence books and be brave teddy bears for siblings.

The Wish Fund also provides additional well-being initiatives and services for the whole family.

All of this is above and beyond core NHS expenditure.

What difference will my donation make?

However much you raise or donate, your funds will have an impact.

For example:

  • £5 pays for 3D stickers for children to brighten up their day during treatment in hospital
  • £15 plays for fidgets or poppets – sensory toys which are an invaluable resource for children and young people with complex needs
  • £25 pays for entry to a fun venue on an outing to places such as Folly Farm
  • £50 pays for Be Brave Teddy Bears for siblings which offers comfort and bereavement support at difficult times
  • £75 pays for a Buzzy Bee distraction tool for children and young people admitted for blood tests and canulation which blocks pain using temperature and movement
  • £150 pays for a wonderful day trip for a small group
  • £200 pays for sensory boxes containing a collection of toys and materials which provide specific stimuli to children and young people.

Thank you for giving families memories that last a lifetime!
