Thanks to donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to purchase two new TVs worth over £1,000 for the patient waiting area and treatment room in the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.
“Undergoing chemotherapy can be an emotional experience, and the time spent waiting for treatment can often add to patients’ anxiety and discomfort.
“Clinics are held within the Chemotherapy Day Unit and can sometimes over run. Providing our patients with access to a television will make their experience more comfortable and
provide a distraction whilst they are waiting for their appointment. The presence of a television can make the waiting area feel more inviting and less clinical.
“Providing patients with a TV in the treatment room will also make their experience more comfortable and provide a distraction whilst they are receiving chemotherapy.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
