Ifan Evans and Prys Lewis organised a quad bike trek and raised £2,635 for Gwenllian Ward, the Maternity Ward at Bronglais Hospital.

The trek, which took place on 7th October 2024, started at Devils Bridge in Aberystwyth and travelled over the Cambrian Mountains to Cwmystwyth and out towards Ffair Rhos before turning back to Devils Bridge.

Ifan said: “The quad bike trek is an annual event, we like to choose different local charities to support each year. It was a journey of 35 miles with great weather conditions and great views.

“It was a fantastic day with an unbelievable turn out. Over 120 quad bikes ventured out and all returned safely.

“We had great support from locals and people further afield with excellent support from local businesses as well as the landowners, which is very much appreciated. We are all looking forward to next year’s trek.

“With six children between us, we know only too well how hard the maternity staff work, it was a great opportunity to give a little something back to them.”

Emma Booth, Clinical and Operational Lead Midwife, said: “As a team we are incredibly grateful to Ifan and Prys for arranging the fundraising event and collecting a fantastic amount of money for Gwenllian Ward.

“This donation will be used to improve the experience of those giving birth here in Bronglais. Funds raised for the maternity ward help us provide mothers and their babies with extra comforts that are above and beyond what the NHS provide as standard.

“It's been an honour to have been a part of Ifan and Gwawr's birth journey and this donation will help us to give women and babies the best possible experience when using our service.”

Bridget Harpwood, Fundraising Officer, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Ifan and Prys for putting such a fantastic effort into raising funds for Gwenllian Ward.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
