A Carmarthen-based darts team has raised hundreds of pounds for Hywel Dda Health Charities through a raffle evening.
Nicola Jones and the rest of the Carmarthen and District Ladies Winter Darts League chose to raise money for Glangwili Hospital’s Cilgerran Ward by organising a charity evening and raffle, which was held on the 30th September, with all proceeds going to the children’s ward.
Organiser Nicola was in charge of selling raffle tickets on the night, where prizes included a selection of hampers, toys and sweet treats.
Nicola was inspired to raise money for Cilgerran Ward in memory of her mum, Anita, who was also a darts player, and she chose to fundraise for the children’s ward to say thank you after staff on the ward helped her son when he was a baby.
In total, Nicola raised £668 and exceeded her goal amount.
“It was an amazing night, full of fun and everyone enjoyed themselves,” she said.
Bethan Osmundsen, Senior Nurse Manager, Acute Paediatrics, said the hospital was “incredibly grateful for the generous donation” by Nicola and the darts league.
She added:
“Your kindness has a direct and lasting impact on the infants, children and young people in our care, enhancing their comfort, wellbeing, and overall patient experience.
“Your support helps us create a more positive, child-friendly environment where young patients and their families feel safe, supported, and cared for. Thank you for making a real difference.”
