Thanks to generous donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities – the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board – has provided £26,984 to fund the refurbishment of the Glangwili Hospital pharmacy staff room.
Due to its size and the increasing number of people using it, the pharmacy staff room had become inadequate as a rest space.
The upgraded staff room, which includes newly installed kitchen facilities and furniture, ensures that all pharmacy staff can enjoy a relaxing space and take a break in comfort.
John Harris, Head of Pharmacy at Glangwili, explained: “The staff rest room had been in use for over 30 years and originally catered for 20 members of staff; there are now over 70.
“The refurbished room provides a much more comfortable and accommodating space. Now pharmacy staff can enjoy a high-quality, restful area where they can take some time out.
“We hope that the refurbished staff room will have a really positive effect on our staff, helping them provide the very best service to our patients.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “Creating a relaxing space for staff is so important: it provides respite from the demands of the day and really supports staff wellbeing.
“The generosity our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
