Côr Seingar is a mixed choir based in Carmarthen. The choir was founded in 2004 and recently organised a charity concert to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The choir raised funds for the Chemotherapy Day Unit as a member of the choir, Siân Axford, sadly lost her battle with breast cancer in 2021.
Nicki Roderick, Musical Director of Côr Seingar, said: “Our concert was held at St Peter's Hall in Carmarthen on 20th April 2024. Guest artists were the tenor and opera singer Robyn Lyn Evans, Irish Piper Christy McCarthy and pupils from Ysgol y Dderwen.
“The choir also launched a new CD, 'Eilia2', featuring 12 popular and well-known tracks which were recorded at Sonic One Studio in Llangennech.
“The concert was arranged in memory of a member of the choir, Siân Axford, who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer. Siân was an enthusiastic and popular member of the soprano section of the choir and is greatly missed.
“The sell out concert was a huge success and choir members enjoyed the challenge of collaborating to organise and ensure the smooth running of the evening. We would like to thank the talented artists who supported the choir in the concert, the generosity of local businesses for their kind sponsorship and donations, the town council for the use of the hall, the volunteers who supported the evening, and the appreciative audience, many of whom are enthusiastic Seingar supporters.”
Nicola Llewellyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “Thank you to Côr Seingar for raising such an amazing amount for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili, it is a wonderful tribute to Siân.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
