The Wish Fund is a campaign delivered by Hywel Dda Health Charities which creates lasting memories for children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and their families.
Thanks to the funding, the families also enjoyed an overnight stay at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. The CYPs and their families also took part in a range of activities across the two days.
Rachel Brown, Paediatric Palliative Care Play Specialist, said: “We’re so grateful for the generous donations to the Wish Fund that enabled us to organise this unforgettable experience for the children, young people and their families that we support.
“We attended the Celtic Manor Resort in early January. 16 families from our Paediatric Palliative Care caseload attended the event and took part in festive memory making activities at the resort, such as pottery and crafts. The families also attended the ICC to watch the fantastic musical, Elf.
“Days like these allow the CYP on our Paediatric Palliative Care caseload, as well as their families, to make magical moments which can be remembered and cherished forever. Thank you to all who support the Wish Fund, your donations allow us to provide these amazing opportunities.”
A family that attended the overnight stay said: “Thank you for the opportunity to go to the Celtic Manor. It was lovely there and Elf the Musical was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We are incredibly pleased to have funded such an incredible trip for the children, young people and families supported by the Paediatric Palliative Care Team. We look forward to funding more trips like this in the future.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
Your donations are making a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff.
