Glanamman runner raises £700 for Prince Philip Hospital's chemotherapy day unit

A local fundraiser has run the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise funds for Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Ceris Powell from Glanamman took on the half marathon back in October to fundraise for the chemotherapy day unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

Ceris took on the challenge to say thank you to the unit for the treatment her uncle Lyndon has been receiving there.

And she managed to raise £700 in total.

While Ceris admitted the half marathon had been a challenge, it was rewarding to be able to contribute to a good cause and raise funds for the unit, she added.

She said: “We can't praise the staff enough for the kindness, care and compassion shown to my uncle.”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We can’t thank Rhian and Ceris enough for their support for the chemotherapy day unit. Your efforts mean so much to us.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services above and beyond what the NHS can provide in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, and we are very grateful for every donation we receive.”
