Two Co-op stores in Llanelli are supporting Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of the Hywel Dda University Health Board, through the Co-op Local Community Fund.

The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK that their members care about. It works in partnership with thousands of local causes every year to help them raise as much money as possible.

The Co-op in Felinfoel and the Co-op in Strade are both helping to raise funds for wellness packs which will support the mental wellbeing of patients who are receiving anti-cancer treatment at Prince Philip Hospital.

Holly Thomas, Manager of the Felinfoel store, and Katie Philips, Manager of the Strade store, said: “We are so proud to be supporting the wellness packs for patients at Prince Philip Hospital and are looking forward to working together in the year to come. These packs show that small acts of kindness make a big impact.”

Claire Rumble, Carmarthenshire Fundraising Officer, said: “Hywel Dda University Health Board delivers anti-cancer treatments from our chemotherapy day unit at Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.

“Dedicated specialist nursing teams have carefully chosen items for the wellness packs that will benefit our patients’ mental wellbeing both during and after their treatments which will help ease some of the inevitable side effects.

“Items in the packs include beanie hats, bandanas and caps for those with hair loss, hand and body creams, socks and gloves.

“These packs will make a huge difference to our patients and is a great opportunity for our customers in local Co-op stores to show support to people in our community who are going through cancer treatment.”
