Byron raised the funds through a photo exhibition at Harbour Light Tearoom in Burry Port as a thanks for the care he received at the unit.
“I am therefore incredibly grateful to the NHS for saving my life. On top of this, I was admitted to Prince Philip Hospital in 2022 after I collapsed and was put on a ventilator for five weeks. It was found that I had endocarditis.
“I then had open heart surgery at Morriston Hospital to replace my aortic valve and another six weeks of recovery in Glangwili and Prince Philip Hospitals. I cannot express how thankful I am for the NHS and always will be.
“As a local photographer, in November 2024, I was asked to hold a three-month photo exhibition at the Harbour Light Tearoom in Burry Port. All profits from the sale have gone to the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Phillip Hospital.
“I would like to thank the following for donations and support: Gravells car dealership in Kidwelly; Specsavers in Llanelli; Autumn Leaf in Burry Port; the Community Friendship Group in Burry Port; Cadno Fashion in Burry Port and the Harbour Light Tearoom in Burry Port.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
Your donations are making a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff.
