Gareth Rutter raised an outstanding £1,194 for the Cardiology Unit at Glangwili Hospital after taking on the challenge of a wing walk.

Gareth Rutter, who lives in Brynamman and works as a Maintenance Technician for Carmarthenshire County Council, completed the wing walk on 8th August at RFC Rendcomb Aerodrome in Gloucestershire.

The challenge saw Gareth strapped to the wing of an aircraft as it took flight, fulfilling a lifelong ambition while supporting a cause close to his heart.

Gareth said: “I chose to raise funds for the Cardiology Unit as a thanks for the care they have given to my friends, Grant and Katie's daughter, Alice, since she was just six months old.

“I would like to thank everyone that donated and friends and family that came to watch on the day.”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, said: “We are so grateful to Gareth for taking on such a brave challenge in support of our Cardiology Fund.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
