NHS charity helps transform Meurig Ward quiet room

Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has helped create a more welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their loved ones on Meurig Ward at Bronglais Hospital.

Charitable funding has enabled the ward to purchase a range of items to enhance its quiet room, including comfortable armchairs, tub chairs and a coffee table, bespoke wall art featuring Mwnt beach, and facilities for refreshments, including a coffee machine.

The quiet room provides a dedicated space where relatives can spend time away from the ward environment while their loved ones receive care. It is also used by staff when holding sensitive conversations with patients and families. The improvements have been designed to create a calming atmosphere that offers comfort, privacy and emotional support during what can often be a difficult and distressing time.

Ellen Masters, Ward Administrator, said: “We are very grateful for the generous donations from our local communities which have enabled Hywel Dda Health Charities to provide funding to enhance the service we provide on the ward.

“Our quiet room has transformed into a more peaceful and welcoming environment where people can take a moment away from the clinical setting, reflect, and spend time with loved ones. Having a calm and comfortable space where patients and relatives can rest, talk privately, or simply take a break can make such a difference during what is often an emotional and worrying time.

"We are incredibly grateful for the funding, which has helped us create a space that promotes comfort, wellbeing and emotional support for those who need it most."
