Charity-funded chairs create more supportive environment for cancer patients

Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has funded new chairs for the clinic rooms at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, helping to improve comfort and support for patients and their loved ones during appointments.

The NHS charity has funded a total of 14 chairs for use in clinic rooms, allowing patients to be accompanied by two family members or friends during consultations.

Marie Williams, Senior Sister, said: "We are always incredibly grateful for the donations we receive at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital. They make such a difference to the service we provide to our patients and their families during very difficult times.

“The chairs have created a more user-friendly environment and help us provide a better and more efficient service for our patients.”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, recently visited the chemotherapy unit and spoke to staff about the difference the chairs have made to the unit.

She said: “Thanks to the generous donations we receive, we’re able to fund items like these chairs that make a real difference to patients and their families.

“It was wonderful to hear first-hand from staff about the positive impact these chairs are already having, helping to create a more welcoming and supportive environment within the unit.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
