A Llanelli darts league has raised a fantastic £436 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital through its annual charity darts competition.

Llanelli and District Jack n Jill Darts League, a group that runs a darts league for local pubs in and around Llanelli on Sunday evenings, held the event at Morfa Social Club in April 2026.

The annual pairs competition is organised to raise money for local charities, with league members nominating causes close to their hearts.

Claire Hitchman, Treasurer, said: "Every year the charity is different. Being my first season as treasurer, I wanted it to go local. As my husband has terminal cancer, I understand how much the nurses put into caring for each person. I then put it forward to the committee that the funds go to Prince Philip Hospital Chemotherapy Day Unit.

"It was an amazing evening and people dug deep. We raised £436, which is the most this event has ever raised."

Kath Watkin, Senior Sister, said: “On behalf of the staff and patients at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, I would like to thank you for your fundraising efforts resulting a kind donation towards the unit.

“We are always looking at ways to improve the environment and improve the way we care for patients within the Chemotherapy Day Unit. Please be assured that this money will go towards this improvement. Thank you!”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, said: “We’d like to say a huge well done to all involved in the Llanelli and District Jack n Jill Darts League for raising such a great amount.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
