A Pembrokeshire couple are set to launch a series of fundraising events to raise funds for Pembrokeshire Children’s Services.
Pippa Thomas, from Hook in Pembrokeshire, and her husband Mike, have cared for children as foster carers for almost 19 years.
The family have two daughters, grandchildren and two foster daughters currently living at home as well as several former foster children living independently nearby. They also adopted their son Levi, aged 10, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare and complex congenital heart condition.
To help support other children and families facing similar challenges, Pippa, Mike and their family have organised a number of fundraising events, beginning with a family fun day at the Pelcomb Inn, Simpson Cross, on Sunday 30th August. The event has been organised by Pippa's brother, Nicky, and his wife, Nic.
Open to all the public, the event will run from 12pm to 5pm and will feature children's activities, bouncy castles, face painting, temporary tattoos, cakes and treats, music and refreshments. A GoFundMe page has also been set up, with further fundraising events planned in the coming months, including bingo evenings, treasure hunts and raffles.
Katie Hancock, Fundraising Officer at Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “A huge thank you to Pippa, Levi and family for organising a Family Fun Day to raise funds for Pembrokeshire Children's Services. Your support is greatly appreciated and will help make a positive impact on the lives of local children and families. Good luck and have a wonderful day!
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
