School fundraiser raises more than £1,100 for Paediatric Diabetes Service

Staff and pupils from Tycroes Primary School stepped up to support children and young people living with diabetes by raising an incredible £1,143 for Hywel Dda University Health Board's Paediatric Diabetes Service.

Carly Price, a member of staff at the school, organised a sponsored Step-a-Thon during diabetes week in June to give back to the service that has helped her two children, Jenson and Aria, who were both diagnosed with diabetes within just a month of each other.

The challenge encouraged pupils and staff to get moving while raising awareness of diabetes and funds for the Paediatric Diabetes Service who help support children and young people living with diabetes across Hywel Dda.

Katie Hancock, Fundraising Officer, said: “A huge thank you to Carly, Jenson and Aria for organising such a fantastic Step-a-Thon in support of the Paediatric Diabetes Service.

“Your hard work and dedication have been truly inspiring. We would also like to congratulate everyone at Tycroes School for taking part and helping to raise such an incredible amount of money. Every donation will make a real difference to children and young people living with diabetes, and we are so grateful for your support. Well done all!

“The generous charitable donations we receive don’t replace NHS funding. Instead, they are used to provide items and activities above and beyond core NHS expenditure.”
