Ebony Tucker said: “My Nana, Gwen Davies, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in April 2024. My little sister, Mattie, told us that she wanted to take part in a race to help raise awareness of this awful disease.
“After speaking to Nana, she told us that she really wanted us to fundraise for the amazing Oncology Unit in Prince Philip where she was receiving her treatment.
“We would like to thank all the staff on Ward 1 who cared for Nana, all the staff on the Oncology Unit and Palliative Care Team, and our own NHS nurse hero, Mikey, who moved in with and cared for Nana throughout her illness.
“Thank you to all who donated, helped and supported our fundraising and Nana. Most importantly, Nana, none of us would be here without you. You were the most amazing wife, Mum, Nana, Great-Nana, and friend, who loved everyone she met, and would do anything for anyone.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Denman and Tucker family for raising funds for the Oncology Unit.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
