Margaret Davies wrote and published a book of poems called Memories and raised £2,024 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

Margaret, a retired shorthand typist for Llanelli Borough Council and the Welsh Water Board, has been writing the poems since 1985. She raised the funds for the unit in memory of her son, Teifion Wyn Davies.

Margaret said: “Thanks to everyone who has kindly supported and bought my book to support Hywel Dda Health Charities with a donation to the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, which is close to my heart.

“I was delighted to have my book published. Having become more immobile, I had had more time on my hands and wanted to become more productive.

“I joined the Llanelli Writers Circle, which encouraged me to write these poems. The book, which is titled Memories, is about my life experiences, some humorous and some dealing with grief.”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’d like to say a very special thank you to Margaret for raising the funds for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can normally provide and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
