Charity funds artwork and plants for new Bro Myrddin Wellbeing Hub

Thanks to generous donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to purchase artwork depicting local scenery and plants for the new Bro Myrddin Wellbeing Hub in Johnstown, Carmarthenshire.

17 pieces of artwork of surrounding areas and decorative plants have been funded for the hub.

The hub is Wales’ first mental health crisis hub for children and young people who are in need of urgent support and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It provides round-the-clock bespoke mental health provision for children and young people in a therapeutic environment at a time when they need it most. It means children and young people who present in crisis have a safe space which prevents distressing and unnecessary admissions to A&E and mental health wards.

The NHS charity has also recently funded an X-Box console, PlayStation console, controllers, docking stations and several games.

Elaine Wade, Business Manager, said: “We’re incredibly grateful that charitable funds have allowed us to purchase the pieces of artwork and plants for the hub.

“The artwork will ensure the building is more inviting and will add colour and interest to take the bareness off the walls to ensure the young people and staff feel comfortable.

“The plants will make the building feel more homely and hopefully ensure patients feel relaxed and be able to talk to staff around concerns they are experiencing.”
