Donations fund new oxygen saturation monitor for Glangwili

Thanks to the generous donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to fund an oxygen saturation monitor with an ear probe for the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) team at Glangwili Hospital.

Oxygen saturation monitoring is a key part of the assessment of ILD patients as the scarring on the lungs can make it more difficult for oxygen to move across the scarring and into the lungs, especially when moving.

This piece of equipment was funded thanks to a generous donation from Felinfach Football Club in memory of a local supporter sadly died from ILD.

Mair Evans, Treasurer of Felinfach Football Club, said: “Felinfach Football Club was pleased to raise money to donate towards a very valuable charity in memory of a much-loved member of our community.”

Melanie Jowitt, ILD Specialist Nurse, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Felinfach Football Club and Hywel Dda Health Charities for enabling us to purchase this fantastic piece of equipment.

“This new piece of equipment will allow clinical independent and further assessments of our ILD patients.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
