Fundraiser to take on Llanelli triathlon for chemo unit

Dewi Owen is taking on the Llanelli Triathlon on 11th May 2025 to raise funds for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

Dewi, 47, from Llanelli, is raising funds for the unit because his father, William John Owen, is currently receiving treatment at the unit.

William said: “I am 76 and retired. I have been having chemotherapy treatment for Multiple Myeloma for the last 14 and a half years.

“I was diagnosed with Myeloma on 1st July 2010, the chemo unit has certainly saved my life. We hope to raise £1,000.”

Nicola Llewellyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We’d like to say a huge good luck to Dewi, thank you for taking on such a challenging event to raise funds for the unit.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
