Pictured above: Dr Simon Fountain-Polley.
Simon has worked in west Wales for nearly 20 years as a Consultant Paediatrician and is heading to Porthcawl on 5th July to raise funds for the service that is so close to his heart.
He said: “I spend time on the children’s ward and do paediatric diabetes clinics across all three counties in our health board area. I’m privileged to work alongside dedicated, hardworking and caring team members who provide invaluable support to vulnerable children and their families.
“My colleagues often go above and beyond to help families, and additional funding can make a real difference in supporting these efforts. I also have a family member living with type 1 diabetes, so this is a cause that means a great deal to me personally.”
Katie Hancock, Fundraising Officer, said: “A massive good luck to Dr Simon Fountain-Polley with the Porthcawl 10k. Thank you for using your 50th as an opportunity to fundraise for local NHS charity.
“The generous charitable donations we receive don’t replace NHS funding. Instead, they are used to provide items and activities above and beyond core NHS expenditure, such as more welcoming surroundings for patients, families and staff, and research into, and the development of, treatments.”
