Businesses in the Llanelli area have collected over £1,000 for the Prince Philip Hospital Gardens Appeal by displaying donations boxes on their premises.
They are joining in the effort to raise £100,000 to create new therapeutic gardens for older patients in Prince Philip Hospital.
The Appeal aims to fund new gardens for patients in Mynydd Mawr ward, a 15-bed elderly care rehabilitation unit, and Bryngolau ward, a 15-bed older adult mental health unit.
The wards are located next door to each other on the ground floor of the Hospital and have access to enclosed outdoor space. This space, however, is currently not in use and is not suitable for patients.
The Phil Bennett, Jennings Solicitors, The Royal Oak Felinfoel, The Foel, The Reverend James, Dafen Chemist, Dafen Stores and Post Office, Owens Petrol Station, the Prince Philip Hospital shop and the Prince Philip canteen have all shown their support by kindly displaying collection boxes.
Darren Cross, Manager at The Phil Bennett, said “All of us at the Phil Bennett are passionate about supporting local causes. We think the Prince Philip Gardens Appeal is a wonderful cause that everyone in Llanelli should get behind.”
Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer at Hywel Dda Health Charites, said: “We’d like to say a sincere thank you to all the local businesses displaying collection boxes, and of course their kind customers and clients. Your donations will make such a positive difference to patients, their families, and staff at Prince Philip Hospital.”
